Bakgrunn

NB: This webinar is only for CIENS researchers

We are pleased to invite you to a two half-days webinar on synthesis methodology, presented by Neal Haddaway. The course is a follow up of the lunch webinar in October 2020, in which CIENS researchers presented examples of previous synthesis projects. This seminar will go deeper into synthesis as a method. No background knowledge is required; however, the course is also appropriate for those with some experience on synthesis research.

Neal is a Senior Research Fellow at Stockholm Environment Institute. He has a PhD in conservation biology and has worked with synthesis for 10 years. He has long experience with lecturing on synthesis for researchers.  Neal was also a core member of the EKLIPSE project on synthesis, briefly introduced in the first webinar.

Combining lectures, discussions and exercises, the webinar will provide a general introduction to the topic. The emphasis will be on strategies for maximizing rigor and relevance across disciplines and methods. Some preparatory reading material will be distributed beforehand.

The webinar is scheduled in between deadlines from the Norwegian Research Council and the winter break in Oslo. We hope as many as possible will be able to join us!
